
Meet Sam Kerwin: The Fast-Paced Problem Solver at Fello Logistics

When Sam Kerwin joined Fello Logistics in 2024 as carrier sales manager, he brought with him six years of experience in the logistics industry. Having worked with 3PLs of various sizes, Kerwin had extensive experience ensuring that shipper freight was efficiently connected to reliable carriers and other critical resources.
At Fello, Kerwin found a workplace culture that truly resonated with him. The combination of approachable leadership and a team-oriented environment stood out to him, especially the emphasis on resolving conflicts positively. For Sam, this culture created a comfortable and collaborative atmosphere between team members.
“I can talk to Dillon Blesi and Dylan Campbell at the drop of a hat, and it’s nice to be that close-knit with leadership,” Kerwin said. “And obviously the core value-driven principles of getting everybody to buy in to the same mission is definitely impactful. It makes sure everyone is rowing in the right direction, and I think the forward and direct approach we take to conflict resolution is really good.”
This culture of open communication and support allows Kerwin to thrive in his role. He feels empowered to handle the carrier side of the business in a way that plays to his strengths – thoroughly and efficiently.
“Using the resources we have, like the various technologies, and the industry experience I have to analyze markets and put my best foot forward when I’m on the search for trucks – or trying to determine how much a certain shipment’s going to cost for various types of equipment, or just understanding how outside industries and political things are going to affect something like a port town – things like that allow me to gather all the information with my resources,” Kerwin said. “And obviously when I’m sourcing trucks I’m making sure I’m getting the best available option for whatever price or service level the client needs.”
One lesson Kerwin has learned from his years in the industry is the importance of speed.
“It’s all about the speed when it comes to booking trucks for me,” Kerwin said. “I’m on the efficiency side, always looking to how quickly I can get the deal done and get dispatch on a load, and then it’s on to the next shipment, because it’s a very fast-paced industry.”
Those problem-solving skills came to him early in life, during experiences such as sports team captain and fraternity president, which he was during his college years at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Working for Fello calls to mind some of those same experiences.
“I’m a very leadership-oriented person,” Kerwin said. “I love team-oriented activities, and I think that’s one thing I like about Fello. I’m able to use my past industry knowledge to help grow and develop younger team members to help us all succeed.”
Although most of the Fello teams are based in California or Minnesota, Kerwin calls Destin, Florida, home. Located in the state’s picturesque panhandle, Destin offers the perfect setting for his love of the beach, boating and live music.
“The remote accessibility of Fello allows me to live where I love and continue a career of something I’m good at,” he said.
